"Everything began during the COVID isolation, when I made the decision to embark on a profound exercise of reflection about the event that has most marked my existence: surviving the murder of my father, who was one of the countless victims of the violent situation that has unfortunately defined Colombia. This tragedy left thousands of widows and orphans, forcing many to leave the country and become part of a vast diaspora across the world—one that is rarely spoken about.
During my reflections, and after confronting many feelings and emotions in a difficult internal battle, I decided to create a fragrance that would represent or recreate the last olfactory memory I have of my father. He was a man with very classic tastes in perfume; at that time, although it was the mid-1980s, he remained faithful to several fragrances from the 1970s, alternating between Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, Pour Lui by Oscar De La Renta, and Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme.
I remember that on the day of his death, he was wearing Paco Rabanne Pour Homme. Although that fragrance has changed over the years, it always brings me back to those final moments we shared together, leaving me with a lifelong appreciation for Aromatic Fougère perfumes.
The fragrance I have created in memory of my father is revealed this year, 2025, on the 40th anniversary of his passing—in May, the month of his birthday, when he would have turned 78. Naturally, it is a classic fougère fragrance, with a distinctive gunpowder accent in the opening and a slightly metallic-sweet undertone in the base, which subtly represents the presence of blood."
