The Tyrconnell 10 Year Old Sherry Cask Finish Irish Whiskey belongs to the Cask Finish series from The Tyrconnell, the pre-Prohibition single malt brand revived at Cooley Distillery in County Louth. Named for a racehorse that won the 1876 National Produce Stakes at 100-to-1, the whiskey is double distilled, aged ten years in bourbon barrels, finished in Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 46% ABV (92 proof) without chill filtration. The sherry finish brings dried fruit, honey and warm spice to the malt's fruity core. The palate is rich with ripe fruit, toasted oak, nuts and a subtle sweetness, and the finish is long and gently warming. Serve it neat or with a drop of water. This 750ml bottle is a classic sherried Irish single malt at a fair price for its age.
